Product Details

Industrial Primer is formulated to protect all types of steelwork. Industrial Primer is fast drying and allows for quick turnaround by structural steel fabricators. Industrial Primer is an excellent base for enamels and may be overcoated with any turps-based paint. It contains non-toxic anticorrosive pigments.

Galmet Industrial Primer is designed for clean or freshly prepared steel, acting as a zinc phosphate barrier primer that provides strong adhesion and long-term corrosion protection. It’s ideal for fabrication and workshop use.

If you’re working with lightly rusted or weathered steel, use Galmet Keytite Steel Primer instead. It’s formulated to penetrate and stabilise light rust before topcoating with Galmet RustPaint.

Which topcoats can be applied over Galmet Industrial Primer?

This primer is compatible with turps-based paints, industrial enamels, and Galmet coatings such as RustPaint or DuraGal Silver.

Can I use Galmet Industrial Primer on galvanised or aluminium surfaces?

For galvanised or non-ferrous metals, use Galmet Keytite Etch Primer instead. Galmet Industrial Primer is designed for clean or previously painted steel surfaces.
